Diving into Free Improvisation on Day One!

What a joy it is to witness the magic of the Fun Fin Orchestra in action! Our newest ESH ensemble in The Hague amazed us by diving straight into free improvisation on their very first day — with just one hour of experience.

But here’s the real beauty: they didn’t just play notes; they played freely. As one insightful 11-year-old pianist shared afterward:

“When you play free, you can’t make mistakes as long as you listen to the others.”

WOW! How often have we heard students (and even teachers) speak about the fear of improvising? With our carefully designed games and activities, children feel at ease and discover that music is a space where creativity flows without fear.

In music, you don’t need to learn to swim before jumping into the pool — as long as you understand that a musical pool never lets you drown.

We are deeply thankful to European School The Hague for their trust and for giving us the opportunity to meet and make music with this amazing wind ensemble.

And now the countdown begins… in just four weeks, we will share this energy and creativity in their concert!

Stay tuned — the Fun Fin Orchestra is just getting started!
